CPR training

Duration: This course involves at least 18 hours of training and is run over three days.

Course Content:On completion of training, successful candidates should be able to:

Provide emergency first aid at work including the following techniques:

  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure)
  • Administer CPR
  • Chest injuries
  • Burns and scalds
  • Eye injuries
  • Sudden poisoning
  • Anaphylactic shock
  • heart attack
  • stroke
  • epilepsy
  • asthma
  • diabetes
  • among others

FAQs:

How long will this course take? This course involves at least 18 hours of training and is run over three days.

Will I get a recognised First Aid certificate? At the end of the course, you will get a certificate issued by an HSE-approved Centre. The certificate is valid for three years.

Do I have to undertake an annual refresher training? HSE strongly recommends that first-aiders undertake annual refresher training, This will help qualified first-aiders maintain their basic skills and keep up to date with any changes to first-aid procedures.

Describe the assessment at the end of the course. On the third day, candidates are assessed by approved and independent Assessor. During the assessment, candidates are asked to demonstrate knowledge of administering first aid.

FAW Requalification:

Do I need to requalify after three years? Before their certificates expire, first-aiders will need to undertake a two-day FAW requalification course to obtain another three-year certificate.



The training is in line with the latest UK resuscitation guidelines from the Resuscitation Council (UK) as published on 18th October 2010 by the HSE.
